Chaos Costs Views

After 327 videos edited...

Here's what I wish I knew starting out.

When I first opened my editing software, I panicked.

Thought my videos needed to look like a Transformers movie.

Elements flying everywhere.

Animations on animations.

Pure chaos.

Yesterday I coached one of my students and…

I see him having the same beliefs I did.

That same overwhelm.

That same misconception.

So here's the truth:

Simpler videos often perform better.

Think about it:

If YOUR eyes don't know where to look,

neither will your viewers'.

Always only have:

One moving element at a time.

BuT HoW Do I kEeP It dYnAmIc?

“Scenes!!!”

Let me show you my core scenes:

1. Split screen setup - Great for video hooks

2. Laptop View - Nice to alternate between during tutorial

3. Fullscreen recording - Great for emphasizing a point

4. Tutorial view - Just a clean screen recording for tutorials.

Cool, now what?

Match your scenes to your script.

How?

New sentence = New scene.

You don’t need any crazy animations, just identify your 4-5 scenes,

and switch between them for every sentence.

For Tutorials:

Make your recordings crystal clear.

Hit “Command +“ or “Control +“ to make your browser zoom in.

Remember:

Clean cuts beat fancy transitions.

I learned this the hard way.

327 videos worth of lessons.

Keep it simple.

-Stay awesome💪
