Monetizing Your Content

Time for some real talk about turning those views into cold, hard cash.

The other day, I ran a poll here on the newsletter, and one question kept popping up:

"How do I actually monetize my content?"

It's a big question, and the answer isn't as straightforward as most "gurus" would have you believe.

Let's start with a hard truth:

Instagram won't pay you for views.

Yeah, you heard that right.

You could rack up 1 million views or hit 10K followers, but Instagram isn't going to send you a check.

That viral video? It might give you a dopamine hit, but it won't pay the bills.

So what's the deal? How do you turn all those eyeballs into actual income?

The key is to build a business around your content.

Let's break it down:

1. Brand Collaborations

If your content revolves around specific industries like wealth, fitness, or relationships - you're in luck.

These are what I call the core niches: health, wealth, and relationships.

Brands in these spaces are often willing to pay creators to showcase their products.

2. Teach, Don't Just Entertain

Here's where a lot of creators go wrong.

They focus on easy-to-make, highly shareable content - think motivational quotes slapped on a pretty background in Canva, or reposted memes.

Sure, this stuff might get views, but here's the harsh truth: it's forgettable.

The key is to treat your content like a business.

And what do successful businesses do?

They solve problems.

3. The Info Niche

This is where the magic happens.

The "info niche" is all about teaching something valuable for free, then offering paid solutions to deeper problems.

Here's how it works:

- Teach something valuable in your content

- Create a free product (like my Talking AI guide)

- Use that to highlight a deeper problem your paid offer solves

For example, I teach people how to create AI content for free.

My "Talking AI guide" helps people create their own AI avatar.

It's genuinely helpful, but it also reveals a bigger challenge:

Once you have the avatar, how do you get more views? How do you turn those views into a business? How do you connect with brands?

That's where my paid offerings come in.

Remember: A business solves problems for people.

Your content should tease a problem, offer free value, and lead to your solution.

You might be thinking, "But isn't this just a way to make money off people?"

Here's the thing: of course, my goal is to make money. So is yours.

But it's about providing value first.

I can sell in every post I make (if I want to) since I know if a person pays me x, I will get them 5x in return,

if your solution is awesome you are doing a disservice to not tell your viewers about it.

The trap many creators fall into is chasing views without a monetization strategy.

They create content that's easy to consume but doesn't actually teach anything.

They might get a lot of followers, but they struggle to turn that audience into paying customers.

So, here's your wake-up call:

STOP CREATING CONTENT JUST FOR THE SAKE OF VIEWS.

Start thinking about the problems you can solve.

What can you teach?

What unique knowledge or skills do you have?

How can you package that into valuable content, free resources, and eventually, paid offerings?

Remember, Instagram (or any platform) is just a tool, a lead-getter.

It's a way to reach people, to showcase your expertise, to build trust.

But it's not going to pay you directly.

You need to use it strategically to build your own business.

So, whether you're just starting out or you've been creating content for a while, it's time to shift your mindset.

Don't just be a content creator.

Be a problem solver. Be a teacher. Be someone who provides real value.

That's how you turn content into cash.
