Unproductive Winner

I got this comment the other day:

And I had to laugh,

because I can tell you all the guru advice like:

  • Batching content

  • Building a content system

  • Get yourself an editor

But honestly,

although I use all the above and they do help me out,

I wouldn't say that is the reason people are more consistent than others.

Because you can have the most productive system in the world,

but unless you want to make a change it doesn't really matter truthfully.

Although I have been posting every day the last year,

I have still would consider myself a big procrastinator.

If I don't feel pain from not doing something,

I just don't do it.

And since I know some of you might feel the same…

I thought I'd share the #1 thing that has allowed me to be consistent even when things feel tough.

Streak building.

Since I only get shit done when there is a fire under my ass,

I have realized that structuring my life and keeping track of my habits to build streaks has been super powerful.

When you track something everyday,

and become a little bit obsessed over doing so,

on a long enough time frame it will be harder not to do the thing than to do it.

I have posted more than 365 days in a row,

can I give up now?

Well, yes but it would feel like huge loss.

I accidentally did this with the gym too:

I went 7 days,

14 days,

and now I have been working out every day this year and I literally cannot stop because it would make me feel like loser.

I completely get that this isn't for everyone but to answer the question,

you should absolutely have a content system,

batch your content once a week and get yourself an editor,

but keeping track of your progress towards your goals is the only thing that will make things easier when you want to quit.

-Stay awesome💪
